3 hospitals ending cardiology programs

Here are three hospitals that recently announced they are consolidating or closing cardiology programs:

  1. Cincinnati-based Mercy Health is consolidating its open-heart surgery program to two Ohio hospitals starting in mid-2023.
  2. Sunnyside, Wash.-based Astria Health is ending all heart procedures and interventional cardiology services at its clinics and Astria Sunnyside Hospital.
  3. Sandusky, Ohio-based Firelands Regional Medical Center is closing its award-winning open heart surgery program after 23 years.
