Stroke centers improve 11 quality measures: ACHC report

Accreditation Commission for Health Care-certified stroke centers improved performance on 11 of 17 core quality measures in 2025, according to a report published June 17.

The report analyzed performance data from ACHC-certified Stroke Ready, Primary Stroke, Thrombectomy Stroke and Comprehensive Stroke Centers nationwide. Of the 17 measures evaluated, 11 improved from the previous benchmarking report, while two declined and three remained unchanged, according to a June 17 news release shared with Becker’s

Patient education showed one of the largest gains, with 92% of certified programs meeting or exceeding the benchmark, up from 83% in 2023. Performance also improved on measures related to time from patient presentation to administration of IV therapy.

Neuroimaging turnaround times also improved, with 80% of certified programs meeting or exceeding the benchmark. The percentage of programs meeting the benchmark for stroke team arrival at a patient’s bedside within 15 minutes increased to 93%, up from 89% in 2023.

The report also identified opportunities for improvement, including dysphagia screening performance, according to the release.
