Mineola, N.Y.-based NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island cut time from door-to-activation of the neurointerventional radiology team by 12.5 minutes, or 35.2%, for patients with strokes.

The hospital asked medical residents, physician assistants and all members of the stroke team to participate in training at its simulation center, according to a June 10 system news release. There, providers interacted with and managed a simulated patient who is experiencing a stroke.

The training resulted in reduced activation time, a 10-minute reduction in door-to-arterial puncture time and a 6.5-minute cut in door-to-clot removal engagement.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
