MU Health Care’s Columbia (Mo.) campus became the 28th hospital to earn the Joint Commission’s Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification.
This is one of the most rigorous certifications awarded to cardiac programs nationwide and recognizes hospitals that demonstrate excellence across the continuum of heart care, including emergency treatment, advanced procedures, long-term recovery and disease management, according to an Aug. 12 system news release.
To earn certification, MU Health Care showed advanced capabilities across all major cardiac specialties, including international cardiology, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, heart failure management and cardiac rehabilitation.
“This certification validates the depth and coordination of care our teams provide every day,” Arun Kumar, MD, director of the division of cardiovascular medicine, said in the news release. “From emergency intervention to lifelong management, our patients benefit from a fully integrated approach designed to improve outcomes at every stage of heart health.”
