Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health has named Bradley Marino, MD, chair of its department of pediatrics and pediatrician-in-chief, effective March 30.
Dr. Marino recently held several leadership roles at Cleveland Clinic Children’s, including chair of the Children’s Institute Department of Heart, Vascular & Thoracic and executive co-director of the Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Center, according to a Dec. 19 Duke Health news release.
He also served as the Ronald and Helen Ross distinguished chair of pediatric cardiology and co-directed the Cardiovascular Innovation Center for Pediatric and Adult Congenital Heart Research at Cleveland Clinic.
At Duke, Dr. Marino will oversee pediatric programs across clinical care, education and research. He will also help guide the system’s collaboration with Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health to develop North Carolina’s first freestanding children’s hospital.
Dr. Marino is a leading outcomes researcher whose work has advanced care for children with congenital heart disease, with a focus on surgical and ICU factors, neurodevelopment and long-term quality-of-life outcomes, the release said.
