Philadelphia-based Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has named three inaugural directors to its Cardiovascular Institute.
Andrew Landstrom, MD, PhD, will serve as the institute’s director of translational research and as a professor of pediatrics at Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. He will begin serving in the role in February, according to a Sept. 22 news release.
CHOP also appointed Liming Pei, PhD, as director of fundamental discovery, and Michael O’Byrne, MD, as director of clinical research.
“This will be a first-of-its-kind comprehensive pediatric cardiovascular research enterprise united by a shared vision,” Daniel Kelly, MD, director of the CHOP Cardiovascular Institute said in the release. “These leaders are set to spearhead innovative approaches to research, treatment and continuous care.”
