San Jose, Calif.-based Santa Clara Valley Healthcare has expanded cardiology services at St. Louise Regional Hospital in Gilroy, Calif., and Valley Health Center Morgan Hill.

New services at the two locations include electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, ambulatory heart rhythm monitoring and treadmill stress testing. Patients can now be evaluated locally for conditions such as heart failure, arrhythmias and coronary artery disease, according to a Jan. 7 news release.

Before the expansion, many South County residents seeking cardiology care traveled more than an hour to San Jose, Calif..

Cardiologist Sumit Sehgal, MD, oversees the program and sees patients at the Morgan Hill clinic. Patients requiring advanced cardiac interventions will continue to be referred within the SCVH network, according to the release.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
