Jonathan Marmur, MD, has been named chair of the cardiology department at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst in the Queens borough of New York City.

Previously, he served as cardiology chief at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in New York City, where he also directed the cardiac catheterization laboratory and served as fellowship director for its general and interventional cardiology programs.

At Elmhurst, Dr. Marmur will focus on expanding interventional services, improving outcomes and expanding access to comprehensive cardiovascular care for underserved communities.

“Heart disease continues to have a devastating impact on immigrant communities and communities of color, and expanding access to cardiology services is a health equity issue,” Alina Moran, CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, said in a news release.
“Adding Dr. Marmur’s expertise to our clinical team will help us deepen our ability to provide advanced, high-quality care to patients in need.”

NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is a 545-bed level 1 trauma center.
