Deepa Kumaraiah, MD, was named executive vice president and COO of NewYork-Presbyterian, effective Jan. 22.
Dr. Kumaraiah, who joined the New York City-based health system in 2012, is group senior vice president, system chief medical officer and COO of perioperative services. She will succeed Brian Donley, MD, who is set to become president and CEO of the health system the same day, according to a Dec. 8 news release from NewYork-Presbyterian.
In her current role, Dr. Kumaraiah oversees clinical service lines, perioperative operations and enterprise-wide medical affairs, as well as the system’s integrated quality and performance improvement program. She previously served as senior vice president of service line integration and chief physician for NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Groups.
A cardiologist by training, she is also an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City.
NewYork-Presbyterian comprises 10 hospitals, nearly 200 primary and specialty care sites, and various telemedicine services across the New York City area.
