Nashville, Tenn.-based Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt will rename its heart program after receiving a $40 million gift from philanthropist Tom Golisano.
The gift is part of a $225 million commitment Mr. Golisano made to six children’s hospitals on Sept. 10, expanding the Golisano Children’s Alliance to 21 members nationwide.
In recognition of the gift, the hospital’s heart care and surgery program will be renamed the Golisano Pediatric Heart Institute, according to a Sept. 10 system news release.
As part of the Golisano Children’s Alliance, Monroe Carell will help establish a consortium dedicated to pediatric heart care. It will create an integrated framework for clinical learning, research and data sharing across the Alliance. This national pediatric heart program network will set the foundation to address complex cardiac conditions, accelerate adoption of evidence-based care and advance pediatric cardiac medicine.
