University of California San Francisco has named Johannes Kratz, MD, as the inaugural chief for the division of thoracic surgery.
Dr. Kratz has served as interim division chief since July 2025, according to a Jan. 30 news release from the university.
He is also the Van Auken Endowed Chair in Thoracic Oncology and has served as medical director of robotic surgery and director of minimally invasive and robotic thoracic surgery for San Francisco-based UCSF Health since 2023.
