UC San Diego taps inaugural endowed director for heart center

The University of California San Diego named Pam Taub, MD, inaugural holder of the Step Family Foundation Endowed Director’s Chair in Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Wellness. 

The endowed chair, established through a $2 million gift from the Step Family Foundation and other support, will advance the teachings and research of the center, according to an Oct. 15 system news release. 

The center provides comprehensive programs to patients recovering from cardiovascular events and chronic conditions. It combines supervised exercise, nutrition counseling, stress management and behavioral therapy to improve long-term outcomes. 

Dr. Taub is also a professor of medicine at the UC San Diego School of Medicine, director of preventative cardiology and founding director of the Step Family Foundation Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and Wellness Center at UC San Diego Health.
