Athens, Ga.-based St. Mary’s Health Care System is expanding two of its hospitals with $80.6 million.

The system is using $45.6 million to build a 43,000-square-foot pavilion adjacent to its St. Mary’s Good Samaritan hospital in Greensboro, Ga. Ground will be broken on the pavilion in July, and it is expected to open in fall 2027, according to a May 18 system news release shared with Becker’s. The pavilion aims to enhance access to cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation services, gastroenterology care, non-oncology infusion services, pharmacy, primary care, rheumatology, surgery, and its Community Education and Conference Center. The system will also relocate outpatient rehabilitation, infusion and administration to the pavilion.

St. Mary’s Health Care is also creating a $35 million Center for Heart Vascular and Neurosciences on its Baxter Street campus. The facility will be constructed on top of the existing Emergency Department and Outpatient Surgical Center, with a groundbreaking planned for mid-June, according to a May 20 news release from the system. It will feature the region’s first 4D CT scanner, expanded rapid-response stroke services and a dedicated electrophysiology lab. It is expected to open in October 2027.

St. Mary’s Health Care System is part of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health.
