States with the highest, lowest heart disease mortality rates

Oklahoma had the highest rate of heart disease mortality in 2021 while Minnesota had the lowest, according to CDC data.

The CDC reported the number of heart disease deaths per 100,000 total population. The data was adjusted for differences in age-distribution and population size, but no other specific population characteristics.

Here are the states with the highest and lowest heart disease mortality rates per 100,000 people:

Highest

Oklahoma: 264.2

Mississippi: 255.2

Alabama: 247.5

Louisiana: 235.5

Arkansas: 231

 

Lowest

Minnesota: 123.9

Hawaii: 126.5

Massachusetts: 134

Colorado: 135.1

Connecticut: 136.7
