Partho Sengupta, MD, was named the 2026 Distinguished Scientist (Translational Domain) by the American College of Cardiology.
The ACC Distinguished Awards are given to individuals whose past and present efforts provide meaningful contributions to advancing “a world where science, knowledge and innovation improve cardiovascular care and patient outcomes worldwide,” according to a March 30 Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital news release.
Dr. Sengupta is chief of cardiology at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, an RWJBarnabas Health facility, and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, both in New Brunswick, N.J. He is an international leader in cardiac imaging, digital health and AI, according to the news release. Dr. Sengupta and his team have pioneered mobile health and point-of-care ultrasound programs, and made milestone contributions to imaging informatics, including the creation of the PRIME checklist for evaluating AI in cardiovascular imaging.
