New York City-based NYU Langone Health named Sunil Rao, MD, director of the Leon H. Charney Division of Cardiology and Susheel Kodali, MD, director of interventional cardiology and director of the system’s cardiac catheterization laboratory in Manhattan, effective Sept. 1.
In his new role, Dr. Rao, an internationally recognized clinician-investigator, will oversee the system’s cardiology programs across clinical care, research and education, according to an Aug. 27 system news release. He replaced Glenn Fishman, MD, who is stepping down after 25 years. Dr. Rao joined the system in 2022 and oversaw the interventional cardiology program.
Dr. Kodali is succeeding Dr. Rao as director of interventional cardiology and of the cardiac cath lab. In this role, he will oversee the system’s minimally invasive treatment programs for patients with complex heart conditions. Dr. Kodali most recently served as director of the Structural Heart and Valve Center and co-director of the Mitral & Tricuspid Center at New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
