Nicklaus Children’s taps heart institute leader

Miami-based Nicklaus Children’s Hospital has tapped Shyam Sathanandam, MD, as chief of cardiovascular medicine.

Dr. Sathanandam has also been appointed to serve as co-director of the Nicklaus Children’s Heart Institute, according to a May 1 news release from the hospital. 

He previously served as the catheterization lab director at Memphis, Tenn.-based Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where he launched the International PDA Symposium, the first global conference dedicated to the patent ductus arteriosus heart defect, the release said.
