New York hospital launches open-heart surgery program

Middletown, New York-based Garnet Health Medical Center recently launched its open-heart surgery program, Mid Hudson News reported Dec. 4.

The program, in partnership with New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is the first of its kind in the county, according to the report. 

As part of the program, Garnet opened a hybrid surgical suite that allows surgeons to perform open, minimally invasive, and catheter-based cardiac procedures.
