Paramus, N.J.-based the Valley Hospital is the first hospital in the U.S. to use landiolol to treat cardiac arrhythmias in critically ill patients.

Landiolol, approved by the FDA in November 2024, is a fast-acting, intravenous beta blocker that can reduce ventricular rate in adults and children with supraventricular tachycardia. It is often administered in an inpatient hospital setting to critical care patients, according to an April 2 hospital news release.

Currently, the hospital’s cardiac critical care team is administering the medication to treat patients with atrial fibrillation with a rapid heart rate.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
