Glen Burnie-based University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, part of Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System, has acquired the Heart Center of Northern Anne Arundel County, also based in Glen Burnie.

The acquisition was effective April 1, according to an April 7 news release from the health system.

The Heart Center will change its name to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Heart Associates at Madison Park, and cardiologists from the practice will join the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Heart Associates medical group.

There will be no disruption of care, as physicians will continue to see patients at both the Madison Park practice and at UM BWMC, the release said.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
