Le Bonheur Children’s cardiology chief to retire

Jeffrey Towbin, MD, will retire from serving as chief of pediatric cardiology at Memphis, Tenn.-based Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. 

Dr. Towbin’s retirement will also encompass his positions as executive co-director of the Heart Institute and vice chair of Pediatric for Strategy Advancement at Le Bonheur Children’s, according to a June 9 news release from the hospital. 

A practicing pediatric cardiologist for 40 years, Dr. Towbin spent 23 years leading pediatric cardiology divisions across three health systems: Houston-based Texas Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.

He recently received the American College of Cardiology’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the organization’s 2025 annual meeting.

Dr. Towbin’s retirement will go into effect on June 30, the release said.
