Bloomington, Ind.-based Cook Medical and Indiana University opened the Interventional MRI Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Center of Excellence at the IU School of Medicine’s Medical Imaging Research Institute in Indianapolis.
The center will study how interventional MRI can support new procedures and expand existing ones, according to a Nov. 2 university news release. Research will focus on MRI-guided cardiac and pediatric procedures, needle biopsies and targeted drug delivery, as well as integrating medical devices with MRI systems. The center will also train radiology and MR technologists in new interventional procedures.
Researchers will evaluate and refine emerging procedures before adopting them in clinical practice or clinical trials as appropriate.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
