Eko Health appoints cardiologist as chief medical officer

Eko Health, an AI developer for heart and lung diseases, has named Steven Steinhubl, MD, as chief medical officer.

Dr. Steinhubl is a cardiologist, clinical researcher and digital medicine pioneer. He currently serves as the professor at Purdue University in the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, according to a May 7 news release from Eko Health. 

In the role of chief medical officer, he will drive the company’s clinical strategy, research initiatives and external scientific collaborations to strengthen Eko Health’s evidence base and AI adoption. 

Dr. Steinhubl’s research focuses on wearable sensor technologies, AI and machine learning in healthcare, communication strategies in digital health, virtual-first care delivery and the use of digital technologies to address health inequities.  

Eko Health’s platform is approved by the FDA and has sold more than 700,000 devices worldwide, the release said.
