Greenwich (Conn.) Hospital’s Certificate of Need application was approved, allowing its Heart and Vascular Center to establish elective percutaneous coronary intervention services.
The hospital has provided emergency PCI services for more than 20 years, but the new approval now allows it to perform elective and urgent elective PCI procedures. The PCI program will use existing cardiac catheterization labs, equipment and clinical staff, according to a July 21 hospital news release shared with Becker’s.
“This approval allows us to provide a more complete continuum of cardiovascular care for our patients,” Christopher Howes, MD, chief of cardiology at Greenwich Hospital and associate professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, said in the release. “Our experienced cardiac team already delivers outstanding emergency PCI care, and we are excited to expand those services to better meet the growing needs of the communities we serve.”
