CMS to consider T-TEER coverage: 5 things to know

CMS will conduct a national coverage analysis of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair for the treatment of tricuspid valve regurgitation.

Here are five things to know about the process, according to an Oct. 3 news release from CMS:

  1. Abbott formally requested the national coverage analysis in a 2023 letter.
  2. Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is used to treat mitral regurgitation. T-TEER applies similar technology to the treatment of tricuspid valve regurgitation.
  3. CMS is soliciting public comment, including scientific evidence and peer-reviewed literature, as part of the coverage analysis.
  4. The public comment period ends Nov. 2.
  5. CMS expects to complete its analysis by July 2.
