Children’s National, med device company partner on pediatric heart tech

Washington, D.C.-based Children’s National Hospital has partnered with medical device company Compremium AG to help develop new technologies designed for pediatric patients. The partnership will first focus on noninvasive monitoring of central venous pressure for congenital heart disease patients.

As part of the collaboration, Children’s National will serve as Compremium AG’s “Pediatric Innovation Hub,” according to a Feb. 11 news release from the hospital. 

“Non-invasive CVP monitoring for the pediatric population is the holy grail of cardiac care, a long-awaited advancement that has the potential to revolutionize care,” Yves d’Udekem, MD, PhD, chief of the division of cardiac surgery at Children’s National, said in the release. “Pediatric cardiac surgeons worldwide are eager for this breakthrough solution, which could transform how we monitor and treat cardiovascular patients.”
