Little Rock-based Arkansas Heart Hospital has laid off 40 staff positions or about 4% of its workforce, according to a Sept. 1 Arkansas Business report.

Jacob Robinson, Arkansas Heart Hospital’s chief strategy and operations officer, attributed the layoffs to increased operating costs and decreased reimbursement rates, the report said.

Mr. Robinson also told Arkansas Business that the installation of a new EHR in April connecting the hospital and its 16 outpatient clinics was an “expensive” cost incurred in 2024.

The hospital has plans to hire an interventional cardiologist later this year, along with other personnel as needed, Mr. Robinson told the news outlet.
