The recognized organizations serve nearly 9 million patients with high blood pressure nationwide. About 116 million U.S. adults, nearly half, have high blood pressure.

The recognition is part of AHA and AMA’s “Target: BP” national initiative aimed at reducing the number of patients with high blood pressure by providing quality improvement programs to healthcare organizations.

“Having more than 1,000 organizations achieve recognition shows the commitment of the professionals at each location to truly be part of the solution to this far-reaching problem,” said Mitchell Elkind, MD, AHA president.
