Cardiology practices are continuing to deal with data security in 2026, with at least five groups reporting breaches or reaching settlements, totaling more than $6 million.
Here are five data security incidents and settlements happening in the cardiology sector, as reported by Becker’s so far this year.
- Torrance, Calif.-based CardioFit Medical Group experienced a data breach by sending protected health information via email without encryption.
- Alabaster, Ala.-based Heart South Cardiovascular Group provided notice of a data security incident.
- Phoenix-based Cardiovascular Consultants agreed to pay $3.85 million to settle a class-action lawsuit related to a 2023 data breach.
- Stockton (Calif.) Cardiology Medical Group experienced a data incident potentially exposing patient information and company records.
- Birmingham-based Alabama Cardiovascular Group agreed to a $2.23 million settlement in a data privacy class-action lawsuit.
