3 notable heart drugs in shortage

The American Society for Health System Pharmacists reported three cardiology drugs in shortage.

Currently, more than 300 drugs are experiencing shortages, according to information shared with Becker’s. Here are the top three cardiology drug shortages:

  1. Adenosine, an emergency treatment for irregular or rapid heartbeat that is administered intravenously.
  2. Lidocaine injection, a local anesthesia and anti-arrhythmic that can treat life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias.
  3. Dofeltilide treats irregular heartbeat, including atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter.
