The pig heart was transplanted into a 58-year-old man who had end-stage heart disease and other pre-existing conditions that made him ineligible for human heart transplant.
Physicians told the news outlet that they have withdrawn all drugs that were supporting his heart and he is showing no signs of rejection or infection.
The first pig heart transplant took place in January 2022, but the patient died of complications several months later.
