Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute launched Minnesota’s first mobile cardiac PET/CT imaging service.

“Patients should not have to travel far for advanced cardiac imaging,” William Katsiyiannis, MD, president of the Allina Health Minneapolis Heart Institute, said in a Nov. 2 system news release. “By bringing PET/CT imaging to multiple communities, this mobile service helps us meet growing demand and makes specialized cardiac care easier for patients to access closer to home.”

Each scan can be performed in about 30 minutes. The unit will serve Plymouth on Mondays, New Ulm on Tuesdays and Cambridge on Wednesdays, with more locations planned.

This unit joins Allina Health’s other mobile services, including the heart institute’s mobile echocardiogram unit and Allina Health Cancer Institute’s mobile mammography and lung cancer screening units.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
