SGMC Health named Jessica Musgrove director of cardiology services, the Valdosta, Ga.-based health system announced Oct. 9.
Ms. Musgrove has spent 17 years at SGMC Health and has held leadership roles across several service lines. Most recently, she served as director of surgical services. In that role she oversaw surgical and procedural operations in the system’s main, cardiovascular and hybrid operating rooms, along with gastrointestinal services, the post-anesthesia care unit and sterile processing.
According to the system, Ms. Musgrove helped expand specialized programs in that role. She also worked to strengthen collaboration among physicians and care teams and to advance patient safety initiatives.
In her new position, Ms. Musgrove will lead strategy and operations for cardiology services. She will work with physicians, nurses, technologists and leaders to improve access, quality, efficiency and the patient experience.
“I’m excited about this next chapter and the opportunity to serve in Cardiology,” Ms. Musgrove said. Her goals include building on the service line’s current foundation, strengthening collaboration between teams and creating an environment where physicians and staff can deliver excellent care.
SGMC Health runs its region’s only full open-heart surgery program, structural heart center and advanced heart rhythm program. It is also a Level I Emergency Cardiac Care Center serving South Georgia and North Florida.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
