UVA Health opens state’s 1st robotic heart surgery program

Charlottesville, Va.-based UVA Health has launched Virginia’s first robotic heart surgery program, according to an Aug. 19 report from WVIR.

Cardiac surgeon Michael Ibrahim, MD, serves as director of the program. 

The program’s team performed the first hybrid robotic ablation Aug. 14 and the patient went home the next morning, Dr. Ibrahim said in the report.
