New Hampshire has the highest state location quotient for cardiologists and Utah has the highest for cardiovascular techs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The bureau tracks the location quotient for cardiologists and cardiovascular technologists and technicians by state and metropolitan and nonmetropolitan areas. Location quotient measures how concentrated an occupation is in a specific region; it is calculated by dividing a local industry’s share of total employment by the national industry’s share of total employment. 

In 2025, there were 17,290 practicing cardiologists and 62,960 cardiovascular technologists and technicians. 

Cardiologists made a mean hourly wage of $218.72 and a mean annual wage of $454,940 in 2025. Meanwhile, cardiovascular techs made a mean hourly wage of $36.99 and a mean annual wage of $76,940.
