HCA Florida hospital taps heart institute leader

Atlantis-based HCA Florida JFK Hospital named Cristian Baeza, MD, medical director of the Heart and Vascular Institute.

In the role, Dr. Baeza, a cardiothoracic surgeon, will help expand access to advanced cardiovascular procedures and strengthen patient outcomes by leading the institute’s growth, according to a March 23 system news release. 

“As medical director of the Heart & Vascular Institute, Dr. Baeza brings exceptional expertise and visionary leadership that will further elevate our cardiovascular program,” Ken West, chief executive officer of HCA Florida JFK Hospital, said in the release. “His experience in complex cardiac and aortic surgery strengthens our ability to provide highly specialized care for patients across Palm Beach County and South Florida.”

Most recently, Dr. Baeza served as co-director of the aortic center at University Hospitals Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute in Cleveland.
