The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association released updated guidelines for managing congenital heart disease in adults.
The revised guidelines highlight four priorities: access to specialized care, mental health, physical activity and pregnancy, according to a Dec. 18 news release. They also encourage individualized exercise guidance, preconception counseling and improved heart failure management.
The guidelines replace 2018 recommendations and incorporate research published through 2024.
