Butler, Pa.-based Independence Health System has partnered with Sharon (Pa.) Regional Health System to expand access to advanced cardiovascular care in the region.

The organizations said they will collaborate to expand access to specialty services such as advanced diagnostic testing and interventional procedures, according to a news release shared with NBC affiliate WFMJ.

Sharon Regional reopened in May 2025 under the Tenor Health Foundation, a hospital turnaround company, after closing earlier that year amid Steward Health Care’s bankruptcy proceedings. The Dallas-based system previously owned the hospital, which was shuttered in January 2025 before Tenor acquired it for $1.9 million and committed to $4 million in upgrades.

As part of those improvements, Sharon Regional opened its renovated catheterization lab in January 2026, offering interventional cardiology services to local patients who previously may have traveled out of the area for such care.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
