U of Virginia physician to lead nuclear cardiology society

The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology named Jamieson Bourque, MD, as its president for 2026. 

Dr. Bourque is a multimodality imager at the Charlottesville-based University of Virginia, where he serves as medical director of the nuclear cardiology, stress and echocardiography labs, and a professor of medicine and radiology. He has been a member of the ASNC since 2007, according to a Jan. 6 news release from the organization. 

From 2022 to 2024, Dr. Bourque directed the society’s Nuclear Cardiology Board Exam Prep Course and led authorship on several ASNC guideline documents. He also co-chaired multisociety recommendations for multimodality imaging in cardiac amyloidosis and contributed to ASNC’s quality metrics for SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging and cardiac amyloid radionuclide imaging.

He leads the ASNC’s Artificial Intelligence Task Force and will chair the organization’s 2026 Executive Council.
